Hot Beef Melts

1 tsp (5mL) Crisco® Vegetable Oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1lb (454g) thinly sliced rib eye or sirloin beef
Salt, pepper and steak spice to taste
¼ cup  (50mL) store bought beef broth

Garlic Butter:
1 tbsp  (15mL) butter
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tsp  (5mL) parsley, finely chopped
1 (350g) baguette, cut into 4 and sliced horizontally
caramelized onions, optional
4 slices  (30g each) provolone cheese
Bick’s® 50% Less Salt Garlic Baby Dills, sliced
1. Preheat broiler to high. Line a baking sheet with foil.

2. Heat oil and garlic in skillet over medium heat until garlic begins to brown, about 2 minutes. Season beef and add to hot pan. Cook until slightly pink. Add beef broth, cook and stir, 1 minute or until pink colour is gone. Remove from heat.

3. Combine butter, garlic and parsley. Spread bread baguette with garlic butter. Place under broiler and toast until crispy. Remove and top with cooked beef. Top with caramelized onions if using, and cheese. Return to broiler and cook until cheese melts. Remove from oven, top with pickles and top with remaining baguette slices. Enjoy!

Preparation Time : 20 minutes

Makes: 4 sandwiches

Tip:
1. Deli style roast beef can be used as well. Warm about ¼ cup (50mL) of beef broth in a skillet, add cooked roast beef and warm.
