Asian Style Turkey Burgers

Burger:
1 ½ lbs  (700g) lean ground turkey
3 green onions, finely chopped (about 1/3 cup/75mL)
1 clove garlic, minced
½ tsp (2mL) ground ginger
1 tsp  (5mL) chili garlic sauce
1 tbsp  (15mL) soy sauce
1 tsp (5mL) sesame oil
¼ cup  (50mL) chopped cilantro
6 tbsp (90mL) hoisin sauce, divided
1 tbsp  (15mL) Crisco® Canola or Vegetable Oil for grilling
6 hamburger buns

Toppings:
¼ cup (50mL) Bick’s® Zesty Onion Relish
¼ cup (50mL) Bick’s Hot Pepper Rings
¼ cup  (50mL) Bick’s Mild Banana Pepper Chunks
6 tomato slices
6 lettuce leaves
6 red onion slices
Burgers:

1. Combine first 8 ingredients. Mix in ¼ cup (50mL) hoisin sauce and reserve remaining 2 tbsp (30mL) for glazing burgers. Shape into 6 patties.

2. Preheat barbeque grill to high. Lightly brush one side of each patty with oil. Place oiled side down on hot grill and then oil top side. Cook, 4-5 minutes, turn and brush cooked side with hoisin sauce and cook another 3-5 minutes, or until an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) is reached. Turn again and brush other side with remaining hoisin sauce.

3. Place on hamburger bun and top with toppings.

Baking Time : 10 minutes
Freezing: excellent

Makes: 6 burgers

Tip:
1. These burgers freeze really well, raw or cooked. To freeze them raw, wrap them individually in plastic wrap and then place in freezer bag. To cook from frozen, lightly oil them and place on hot grill. Add an additional 3-5 minutes cooking time per side.
