Lighthearted Lunch Box Ideas from Bick’s®

It’s that time of the year again - back to school! You can never have too many fun, exciting and delicious lunchbox ideas in your back pocket, no matter what the age of your children. With the help of these tasty tips from Bick’s, you’ll be able to avoid lunchtime monotony and be sending your child to school with a lunch and snacks you can be sure they will enjoy.

A Cup Full of Fun

If your children like vegetables and dip, they’ll love this portable dip cup that includes all of their favourite sandwich ingredients. Toast two pieces of bread and cut it into strips. Arrange the bread, a pepperoni stick, a string cheese stick, a Bick’s pickle, and a couple of carrot and celery sticks in the cup. Seal the top of the cup and pack it securely in their lunchbox with a favourite dip.

Tuna Log Rolls

Add Bick’s Banana Pepper Chunks to your favourite tuna salad recipe for an extra kick and spread a thin layer over a small, whole-wheat flour tortilla. Place a row of thinly sliced Bick’s dill pickles along one edge. Roll the tortilla, starting at the pickle edge, into a log. Cut each log into 3 pieces and secure each portion with a toothpick.

Mini Subs

Turn a hotdog bun into a submarine sandwich loaded with lunchtime favourites. Layer the bun with pepperoni or deli meats, sliced cheese, sliced Bick’s pickles, lettuce and onion. Send the submarine sandwich with a small container of Italian dressing that can be added to the sandwich right before it’s enjoyed.

Kool Kabobs

Crowd-pleasing kabobs can be a quick an easy lunch solution too! Delight your kids with a personalized kabob made from their favourite sandwich ingredients, combining toasted bread, turkey or ham, cheese, bacon, Bick’s pickles, and more. Thread the items onto a clean popsicle stick for a twist on a classic lunchtime sandwich standby.

Dilly Chicken Salad Cups

Preheat the oven to 350˚ F (180˚ C). Use a 2-inch cookie cutter to cut 8 rounds from 3 whole wheat tortillas. Press the tortilla rounds into mini muffin cups. Bake for 7 minutes or until golden and crisp. Cool completely. Combine some diced cooked chicken, mayonnaise chopped Bick’s pickles, shredded carrot and a little Bick’s dill pickle juice, and season with salt and pepper. Pack the tortilla cups and chicken salad mixture separately in your child’s lunch box. When it’s time for lunch, they have an edible bowl for their chicken salad!
